Well everyone, it's time again for another chapter in the life of an Otaku! And like any proud Otaku, it stand to reason today's post will be about anime! Anime (an manga of course) is one of those few things that, no matter what, give me a little joy during the day. Although, ND seems to want to make my watching anime an arduous process considering the amount of time I would need to dedicate to thoroughly enjoy it on a regular basis. However, ND will not deter ME, and it won't deter YOU!
Now, I've watched a lot of anime, and it's hard to make a decision, but I think you guys deserve to know what my favorites are and why. I like an anime with an engaging story line, intellectual stimulation, rationality (yes, I'm saying I don't like Bo bo-bo bo bo-bo-bo), and above all else: the ability to evoke EMOTION. Among these anime are Death Note, Code Geass, Full Metal Alchemist (both), Blood + (masterpiece) and Blue Submarine #6. Now, I like a Bleach and a Naruto just as much as the next guy but they don't have the maturity other anime do....
Death Note and Full Metal Alchemist are definitely two of the better series I have seen. Full Metal's storyline and interwoven morals add to its engaging nature. Death Note on the other hand I liked for its spontaneity and sophisticated way of thinking.

ReplyDeleteI feel as though our anime tastes don't line up very well as I'm more of a もえと せいねん おたく (K-On! owns - new OVA commin' atcha this じゅにがつ) as opposed to a しょうねん おたく (manly tears and whatnot).
ReplyDeleteI'm glad we can at least agree that bo-bo-whatever and the like are poop. That is, assuming you aren't simply generalizing all comedy-centric series when you say that, because ぜつぼう せんせい、 あずまんが だいおう、 にちじょう、 and several others own hard.
I could talk about anime all day, so I'm enjoying this post quite a lot. All the everyone mentioned are such great series. I'm going through FMA Brotherhood right now at a torrid pace. As for me, my tastes are actually quite varied. Part of me really likes the intelligence and seriousness of stuff like Deathnote (even though they killed off what I thought was one of the best characters ever halfway through the show), and the other part of me loves stuff like K-On. I don't know its just weird. I've never seen Eureka Seven, although its on hard drive waiting to be opened. The last Mech anime I watched was Code Geass, and even though it was one of the best anime I have ever seen, that one drained me so emotionally I haven't been able to watch a mech show since. Samura Champloo is my favorite of all time though, hands down
